“Dalu” by AFC is the umbrella program of all sustainability initiatives of AFC. We have launched this program in 2019 to further promote the sustainability agenda of the company through social and digital media, inviting the like-minded stakeholders to support our social and environmental sustainability initiatives.
“Dalu ” denotes “new beginnings” and for AFC, it is about a new beginning with a fresh approach to create a positive impact on all its stakeholders with a win-win approach and a holistic integrating of social and the environmental to its value creation.
As a part of this program, a social media campaign was launched in 2019 and “Dalu” web portal was launched in 2020, in order to engage both local and international stakeholders who would like to join hands in our journey of Sustainable Value creation.

AFC completes planting 213,965 trees on World Environment Day 2019!!
In commemoration of the World Environment Day, Alliance Finance Company PLC (AFC) held a symbolic tree planting event at the AFC Head Office on 5th June 2019.
The Deputy Chairman and the Managing Director – Mr. Romani de Silva, Director Sustainability – Mr. Mahinda Gunasekera, Director Finance and Operations- Mr. Kusal Jayawardana and Director Credit Operations and Marketing- Mr. Ravi Rambukwelle have participated in this event with the AFC Sustainability team members and the staff.
In parallel to this event, another tree planting campaign was held in Galle, organized by the AFC Galle branch, with the school children of Ihalagoda Sumangala Maha Vidyalaya.
With this, AFC has completed planting 213,965 trees, starting from one year back, where AFC launched it’s Thuru Mithuru program with planting 176,518 trees in one day with the participation of over 370,000 school children from over 991 schools, on World Environment day 2018. With the intention of making a greater contribution towards battling the Climate Change, AFC has revised it’s former commitment of planting 600,000 trees and took a new pledge to complete planting one million trees by the end of year 2023.

HILL COUNTRY LEOPARD CONSERVATION PROJECT
AFC has joined hands with the wilderness and wildlife conversation, trust , founded by DR Andrew kittle and Anjali Watson – veteran conservationists and Leopard specialist. as their Financing Partner for the Peak Ridge Forest Corridor Project. the objective of this collaboration is to help protect the hill country leopards and minimize human – leopard encounters, whilst restoring eco-system of the selected area in the central hills of sri lanka.
