AFC – RDA continue green the expressways

AFC joined hands with the Road Development Authority (RDA) once again to create a greener expressway network across the country, by providing 25,000 additional Kohomba plants for the Green Expressway project of RDA. The event was held at Barawakumbuka exchange with the participation of Mr. Mahinda Gunasekera – Director Sustainability of AFC, staff members of AFC, delegates from RDA and Mr. J. Balasingha from Thuru Viyana plant nursery; the main plant supplier for AFC green initiatives.

The project commenced in 2020, based on the request of RDA to provide 75,000 plants for their Green Expressway project and 50,000 plants were provided by AFC in October 2020. With this contribution AFC became the largest plant supplier to the expressway and in the country during the 2020/21 financial year. AFC has supported RDA green projects in previous occasions as well with the partnership of Lion’s club providing 40,000 plants. It is an honor for AFC to help create a greener expressway for the nation with a total contribution of over 100,000 plants.

BIODIVERSITYCONVERSATION AND ECHO SYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECTS

HILL COUNTRY LEOPARD CONSERVATION PROJECT

AFC has joined hands with the wilderness and wildlife conversation, trust , founded by DR Andrew kittle and Anjali Watson – veteran conservationists and Leopard specialist. as their Financing Partner for the Peak Ridge Forest Corridor Project. the objective of this collaboration is to help protect the hill country leopards and minimize human – leopard encounters, whilst restoring eco-system of the selected area in the central hills of sri lanka.
